Women's Leadership Council

Women who support the United Way of Stanislaus County at the leadership level of $1,000 or more each year are recognized as a member of the Women's Leadership Council.  The Women's Leadership Council's focus is to promote the power of women living united; women who are willing to give, to advocate, and to volunteer.  Your leadership contribution can be made either through your workplace or through a direct donation to the United Way of Stanislaus County.

From a handful of determined and passionate women, Power of the Purse and the Women's Leadership Council has grown into a national network of some 50,000 members in 120 U.S. communities, and the most successful fund-raising efforts of its kind. The concept recognizes women as a powerful force. With more members giving more money than any other similar women's group, nationally the United Way Women's Leadership Council has raised in excess of $700 million since its inception and set a target of $1 billion by 2012. The members of the Women's Leadership Council of the United Way of Stanislaus County are proud to be a part of this effort.

The women of Stanislaus County can - and do - make a difference advocating issues important to them, taking a leadership role in advancing the United Way's work, and making a personal financial commitment, focused on women and youth.  You can help and make a difference too.  If you would like to be a part of the Women's Leadership Council, contact Debra Trulin at United Way of Stanislaus County at 209.523.4562 extension 108.

The 14th annual "Power of the Purse" luncheon was held on October 5, 2011, at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto. Greens Market provided a fantastic lunch incorporating
product provided by local women-owned businesses.  Burroughs Family Farms, Mohini Indian Fusions, 5 Minute Focaccia, Pure Valley Honey, Four Seasons Farms and Greens Market, and Mary's Chickens collaborated to provide the tasty menu for our guests.

This year's keynote speaker Marilyn Sherman has been motivating and inspiring audiences for over 17 years and owns her own speaking and training business, dedicating her life to helping people get out of their comfort zone and get a front row seat in life.

Many thanks to our "Power of the Purse" Committee members who once again, devoted their time and efforts to make the luncheon a success.
